Black Mold: Solitude (Print-and-Play)
A dark, brutal roll-and-write in the Black Mold setting
Free
Solo | 15-20 Mins | Ages 14+ (PNP - 4 printed pages)
You awake, disoriented, foggy. You are alone...silence. You shamble through shadowy corridors webbed with mycelium growths slithering toward you. Opaque blackened clouds of haunting fog loom in a cramped tunnel teeming with fungal forms beckoning you to come closer. Ghostly black figures dart through the effluvium, spurring paranoid thoughts as your inner voice asks "is someone there or am I losing my mind?"
You begin to feel weak, your psyche slips, your dread mounts. Your survival instinct suddenly kicks in and you realize that if you're here much longer, you may never leave. Can you escape the Black Mold?
This solo spinoff I collaborated with John De Campos on as an add-on to the Black Mold kickstarter from Terrible Games distills the game's survival experience into a tense and digestible 12-25 minute escape.
Mitigate roll outcomes and build up and expend your attributes, collecting items and making critical choices. Will you die in the mycelium or narrowly escape a grim fate by making your egress?
The original game featured a double-sided note pad and a secondary interface in the form of a J-card included in a dungeon synth cassette featuring music from Vandalorum. The J-card is included in the PNP files. You can also listen to the cassette on Bandcamp here.
